Take this exercise slowly. The first three times you ride to and back are going to be the toughest. Make sure to set a pace and stick with it. It helps to look at the houses going by instead of the street signs. The way home is a steady incline spread out over 30 blocks. You're in luck though, there's a 7-11 on 20th and Hawthorne. If you can't make it all the way yet, take a Slurpee break. Also, you're probably going to run into some sickie bike jocks. They might pass you going east on the bridge, but that's fine. You'll just meet up with them when you get the the other side.

After your first week, the exercise will just become routine. Now you can work on your speed and dodging cars. You can work on yelling at drivers when they almost run you over. You can work on your conversation skills when the Hawthorne Bridge is raised and you get to sit with fellow bikers for a good ten minutes.

This exercise is sure to sculpt your calves, thighs, and arm muscles. If you're lucky, it might even work your butt. It will build up your endurance and wake you up in the morning. It will make you feel good and accomplished, it'll give you rosy cheeks.
